Honestly my personal theory is that the punch DID do some damage as I have picked up that a single punch can kill someone if you hit them in the right place. But besides that I think that the hospital never fully treated the injury’s and he either died of that or from an unlucky turn of events such as , a heart attack, medical condition ect. 1 more theory I have is that maybe while he still had his injuries he might have fallen over or tripped making the pain unbearable and then slowly dying for another day or 2. ( Sorry that some parts may not have made sense) That’s just my opinion please don’t take it personally!

He waited too late to get to a hospital. My grandfather died of the same exact thing before I was born. His appendix burst and the doctor waited too late to open him up. Gangrene had already set in. All they could do is close him back up and make him comfortable....it’s terrible. But it does happen more often than you think!

My grandfather said he's related to Martin Beck on his mother's side. He also said they knew what really happened to Harry I keep asking my grandfather to tell me the story but he keeps changing the subject maybe I can get him to tell it to me at some point

MD here...It sounds like he died of appendicitis. It's possible he had developing or mild appendicitis already and then this med student punching him could have caused his fragile, inflammed appendix to rupture, which could have rapidly worsened his condition...or it could have just been bad luck/timing with the punches and the appendicitis. It sounds like in the OR, they found him with a ruptured appendicitis, but that would have happened without trauma anyway if he was ignoring his symptoms. Thanks for the show, I didn't realize that's how Houdini had passed away!
